June 15, 2010 – More than 200 occupational health professionals are expected to attend the 2010 National Conference of The Association of Occupational Health Professionals in Healthcare (AOHP), scheduled for September 15 through 18 at The Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers. Sailing into the Future: Set Your Course for Success features four days of dynamic educational programming and the exchange of successful research and innovative practices, in addition to opportunities for networking and the ability for attendees to earn continuing education hours in a wide variety of content areas.
AOHP is a national association with nearly 1,000 members whose vision is to be the defining resource and leading advocate for occupational health and safety in healthcare. The National Conference, now in its 29th successful year, is a core component of AOHP’s mission to provide its members with opportunities for professional growth through education. About 25 percent of AOHP’s members attend this event each year.
In addition to 15 scheduled breakout sessions, eight general sessions and eight educational workshops led by experts in occupational health, the conference will also feature a keynote address by Kathleen D. Pagana, PhD, RN, a leader in healthcare for more than 30 years. Axion Health Inc. (www.axionhealth.com), a provider of occupational health electronic health records (EHRs) and integrated, paperless vaccination and medical surveillance programs, is the keynote sponsor. Key topics that will be addressed throughout the conference include: safe patient handling programs, fitness for duty evaluations and return to work strategies; a review of OSHA Standards, current regulations and pending healthcare legislation that impacts healthcare workers; Novel H1N1 Influenza A and the efforts to immunize healthcare personnel; and protecting healthcare workers from a variety of work hazards, including bloodborne pathogens, splash exposures and sharp injuries.
This nationally-recognized conference is supported in part by a number of high profile sponsors, in addition to keynote sponsor Axion Health Inc. They include: Hill Rom; ArjoHuntleigh/Diligent Services; Cellestis, Inc; BD Diagnostics; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH); and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
